This very affordable camera is the ideal introduction to SLR photography. It is as easy to

operate as a compact camera, but offers all the advantages of single-lens reflex photography. It

also has plenty of creative features to satisfy experienced photographers.

Ergonomically designed for easy handling. The

EOS 3000N combines a durable body with a comfortable

grip and simple controls. The large viewfinder also

displays essential exposure information, including

shutter speed, aperture and an in-focus indicator.

Additional data is shown on the clear LCD screen

positioned on the top of the camera body.

Select your own focusing point. There are three

focusing points positioned across the field-of-view. Most

of the time you can leave the camera to choose the point

covering the nearest subject to the camera. However, for

creative effects you can switch to manual selection and

choose a different focusing point. The selected point is

indicated in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel.

Manual focusing is also possible.

AIM system for perfect pictures. The evaluative

exposure metering system uses a 6-zone photocell to

analyse light from the scene. The metering is linked to

the focusing system by Canon’s Advanced Integrated

Multipoint (AIM) control system. This means that

emphasis is given to exposure readings taken from the

area of the subject covered by the selected focusing

point. The AIM system extends to autoflash metering

with EX Speedlites, ensuring that the E-TTL flash

exposure suits the main subject.

The camera provides partial metering with AE Lock so

that you can limit the metering to 9.5% of the image

area. There is also auto exposure bracketing (AEB) which

enables you to take three frames in quick succession at

different exposures. These features help you cope with

difficult lighting conditions. Full manual control of the

metering is also possible.

Multiple shooting modes. There is a shooting

mode for every subject. Five Programmed Image Control

(PIC) modes, including the

Night Scene Portrait, give you

one-step settings for a range of

different subjects. The Command dial also provides a

choice of creative modes for more adventurous images.

The EOS 3000N comes in an attractive silver metallic

finish and is compatible with a wide range of accessories

from the EOS system.
